Hi there, dear reader.
This post is to let you know that Elephant Room has officially moved home. From now on, we will post regularly on our Substack instead of here.
We just posted a new story, actually! You can check it out here.
This website will remain alive (meaning we continue paying for the domain/server/WordPress) as long as possible since it now serves almost like a museum, keeping all the original works by Yan and me all the way from 2017 to 2024. In these past seven years, we have written many fascinating yet childish stories about our homeland, China. We will continue to do so now in a more private/safe space (hence Substack!)
Another good news: the team of Elephant Room has expanded to welcome a young generation of writers. They are as intellectually curious and open-minded as Yan and I were in our mid-20s, equipped with more nuanced insights about the complexities of today's China. I am beyond excited to share their upcoming stories with you. (The latest story, about Bianzhi and China's elementary school teachers, was written by one of our new team members, Kat!)
So, if you haven't, please subscribe to Elephant Room on Substack. The publication is currently all free and will remain so as long as possible.
Thank you for staying with Elephant Room all the way. Let's continue to make China relatable.
Best,
Biyi♥️
